Comment about the reading: CALL: Where are we and where do we go from here?

It is very interesting to see how the evolution process of CALL has been similar in time with the development of some psychological theories of learning like behaviorism, constructivism, among others. For me, this parallels in time show how theories and techniques about the teaching-learning processes and the technological progress go hand in hand according to people’s and society’s needs. It is fundamental for us as teachers to be updated about theories, approaches, strategies, techniques, trends related to the teaching-learning processes but also it is necessary to be informed about the advancements in technology and how we can take advantage of those technological innovations when it comes to teaching and learning meaningfully. During the last decades some teachers have shown fear or aversion to use technology in their classes, some others haven’t applied it appropriately, other ones use it only for management and a few use it as a vehicle to improve learning. Thus, I believe that we as teachers need to research, appropriate and try different technologies in our classes in order to motivate our students (most of them are digital natives), to improve teaching-learning processes and to benefit personally and professionally from technology.
